The
Eden Region Manager is designed for system administrators and others
responsible for setting up and maintaining application information. All
necessary components of an applications requirements are defined to
Eden Server and Eden Client through this intelligent interface.
All
application regions are created and maintained here, including set up
for program / transaction relationships (i.e., system 'PCT' entries),
file / dataset information (i.e., 'FCT' entries) as well as server
connection information and Eden Client preferences.

Adding
and maintaining files for an application region is quick and easy.
Indexed, Relative and Sequential files are supported directly through
Eden Server supplied routines. Automatic interrogation of disk files
and creation of table entries greatly simplifies the task of
maintaining all file related data. Files for the average application
(50 files) can be added to a region in under 5 minutes.

Complete
information for every aspect of each file is maintained by the system.
Indexed files can also support up to 5 alternate keys per file. In
addition to basic information required to access any file, the Eden
Server system also provides a number of enhanced features on each
file's Options page including error recovery options, maximum allowed
size, open modes, etc.

System
information including transaction and program definitions are
maintained centrally in an INI file for each region. The Eden Client
software accesses these files via the network once during each client
session initialization.
