Eden Client, the user interface for Eden Server CICS Regions, is a
standalone Windows application that communicates with Eden Server via
TCP/IP. Eden Server® includes two versions of the client
software, a traditional LAN based 'fat client' as well as a complete
INTERNET based 'thin client'. Both versions of the client software are
self-maintaining, automatically update versions as required by the
particular Eden Server® being connected to.
Also, The LAN version of the client may be installed either directly on
end-user desktops or on remote servers. The LAN client also includes
program caching support which dramatically reduces local network
traffic.
Because the Eden Client is an integrated component of the overall Eden
Server® system and not 'middleware' per se, a number of
advanced features are built in which greatly increase the usability of
legacy CICS applications.
For example, Out-of-the-box Eden Client concurrently supports all CICS
screens, produced either with standard BMS maps or advanced 3270 data
streams in both standard character based 'green screens' or with just
one click of the GUI button on the client, the client interface
transforms to a complete Windows GUI interface.
